The Australasian Association of Supervision (AAOS) defines supervision as "a contractual, relational and collaborative process that facilitates ethical and professional practice of the supervisee".
It is a regular, planned and intentional space where you are able to reflect on all aspects of your work and context without judgement. The heart of my approach is to hold a space for the supervisee where they can find safety, trust and courage to reflect on their own soul, role and context in depth, leading to transformational learning.
All professionals in any profession, whether experienced or just starting out, will benefit from engaging with a supervisor for reflecting, debriefing, considering approaches and perspectives, and developing their knowledge and skills.
This is really entirely up to you and can be discussed during consultation. It depends on each individual's context and circumstance. It is recommended that you commit to a session every 5-6 weeks for the benefit of your own processes, however more frequent sessions are often chosen by clients.
Group supervision can be between a group of people that work together, for the purpose of reflecting on aspects of their roles that are relevant to their contexts and interactions.
Group supervision can also be between a group of people unknown to one another, across various professions, in order to reflect and find insight and perspective around certain topics of interest in a collaborative environment.
